RENEW energy supports new community recycling network for North East
25. October 2010

A new community recycling network (CRNNE) has been launched in the North East of England to support the growth of recycling activity in the region.

CRNNE was set-up with the help of RENEW, which  facilitates and delivers commercial energy and environmental technology projects across the North East of England and is committed to ensuring the region is at the forefront of the UK's low carbon and sustainable energy drive.

CRNNE is a membership organisation representing the Community Waste, Recycling and Reuse Sector for the North East that offers a one-stop-shop for organisations and projects working in this important sector and will deliver a broad spectrum of activities and initiatives aimed at supporting and growing the sector in the North East.

Sue Robertson, the organisation coordinator, said “We have identified around 40 community enterprises actively involved in recycling and waste management activity that we hope will come on board as full members and are also hoping that all the local authorities will join as associate members. Initial feedback from the event has been excellent with all of the community enterprises present commenting that they had enjoyed the event and had gained something positive from it.”
