Developers may be able to help meet the requirement to build zero-carbon homes by paying into local renewable energy schemes, the government has suggested. Housing minister Grant Shapps has announced the government will look into developing a community energy fund as part of the standard to ensure new homes built after 2016 are carbon neutral.
